02.08.005 - Student Success Calls

Policy Number: 02.08.005
Policy Title: Student Success Calls
Policy Status: Active

Policy:

Students participating in an official Student Success Call with an institutional Student Support Team member may request the reduction or removal of one previous MAP Notice.

The student may complete a Student Success Call by answering an incoming call from a Student Support Team member or by initiating a call on their own to Student Support. The call does not have to meet or exceed a certain time frame, but should include the discussion of topics such as:

Why the student has been unable to engage

Particular student goals

Discussion of course material that is causing the student difficulty

Scheduling of tutoring sessions

Approaching deadlines such as MID/MCD

etc.

While it is the student's sole responsibility to actively engage in online assignments to achieve a passing grade, the Teaching Team routinely attempts to evaluate student engagement and success in each course or program.

The Teaching Team will consider many variables to determine if a student is appropriately engaged in the course activity. These include the number of Minimum Activity Policy (MAP) violations received by a student and the student's weekly Momentum Scores.

The Teaching Team may prescribe various interventions which may include a student's participation in a Student Success Call.
