POL-072 — Student Certification Maintenance

Policy

Students enrolled in Advanced EMT (AEMT) or Paramedic programs are responsible for maintaining all prerequisite certifications required for enrollment, clinical education, and field internship experiences.

The institution maintains records of applicable state EMS certifications and National Registry certifications, including expiration dates, within the institution's student record management system. These records are routinely monitored by program personnel. When a certification is identified as approaching expiration, the institution will make reasonable efforts to notify the student of the upcoming expiration. However, maintaining current certifications remains the responsibility of the student.

Students are responsible for renewing all required certifications before their expiration date. Failure to maintain required certifications may result in removal from the course, suspension or delay of clinical education, field internship participation, or program progression until the required certification has been reinstated.

Students are encouraged to begin the renewal process well in advance of the certification expiration date to avoid interruptions in their educational progression.
