Distribution of sensitive and confidential information is protected under Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), whether discussed through traditional communication channels or through social media.

The institution students, employees, volunteers, or other stakeholders are expected to always abide by HIPPA guidelines at all times.

Identifiable information concerning clients/patients and/or clinical/field experiences must not be shared with those outside the chain of care.

Information of this nature should never be posted in any group communication, online forum, or webpage. This is a zero-tolerance policy which applies to anyone posting comments that violate HIPPA guidelines and/or this policy. Any infraction of this policy could result in dismissal from the EMS Program.
