Policy Number: 02.04.009

Policy Title: Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Certification

Status: Active

Policy:

All students enrolled in Axon Education programs are required to maintain an active and approved Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification as part of their Clinical Compliance requirements. EMT students have the opportunity and are encouraged to obtain their BLS CPR certification during Skills Lab. This opportunity is not offered at labs for other scopes of practice; however, Advanced EMT and Paramedic students may contact support@axoneducation.com for guidance on how to obtain or renew this requirement if their certification is nearing expiration.

Axon Education does not accept all CPR certifications. All approved BLS CPR courses must include a hands-on skills testing component; fully online courses are not accepted. Axon Education follows the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) guidelines for approved CPR providers. Students should refer to the related Knowledge Base article for a list of approved BLS CPR cards.

Students are responsible for ensuring their certification remains current throughout their enrollment in the program. If a student’s CPR certification lapses while completing Clinical, Field, and/or Capstone Internships, their scheduled shifts may be rejected or cancelled until clinical compliance is restored, which may result in their inability to successfully complete the program.
