Policy Title: Academic Probation
Status: Active
Policy:
Students may be placed on Academic Probation (Academic Probation status) which may require students to complete remedial activities in addition to normal course requirements.
Remedial activities may include but are not limited to completing weekly calls with a faculty advisor, completion of enrichment activities, tutoring, special assignments, etc. Weekly calls with a Faculty Advisor are considered the minimum level of remediation for any student in Academic Probation status.
Students may be placed on Academic Probation for having a Momentum score of at or below .7, for failing any single Unit Exam or Readiness Exam more than three times, for having over 14 days of unapproved inactivity, or for being issued more than three Minimum Activity Policy (MAP) Notices. Additionally, students may be placed on Academic Probation at the discretion of the Teaching Team.
Students will remain on Academic Probation until the Teaching Team or the student's Faculty Advisor removes them from Academic Probation status. Faculty Advisors should notify the Teaching Team when a student is removed from Academic Probation status.
Academic Probation has the following standards for allowing a student to exit the Probation Status:
-Students must maintain a momentum of 90 or higher for a minimum of 2 weeks or more.
-A student must also be caught up on all skills documentation and expected and required Unit Exams related to their progress in the course/program.
Academic Probation has the following requirements that would allow for a Faculty Member to cease extraordinary efforts to assist the student in their improvement:
-Student shows a decrease in Momentum over a 2 week period while on Academic Probation and/or a student does not respond to faculty member communication efforts for 3 or more weeks.
